Ooh, a new Shanghainese find!! Our family has been here a couple times, and my mom is super hard to please, with the right fit of tasty, fresh and economical, but No 8 on the Bund fits the bill! We especially enjoyed their fresh cod with brown sauce, and the taro with white fungus dessert. The restaurant is large and spacious, brightly lit. Bathroom could smell and be cleaned better. Service is helpful and attentive. Will definitely be coming again, and have recommended it to others already.

Quality ingredients and balanced flavors. My parents are regulars at this Shanghai restaurant. The portion is generous and the service is above average (relatively to other Chinese joints). Some dishes we always order are Shanghai roasted duck, pan fried pork bao, scallion noodles, shredded bean curd, chicken soup, crab and tofu, A veggies, and various stir fried items. I haven't had a bad meal there. It shares a parking lot with a couple other businesses, but we never had problems finding a spot. Interior is spacious and relatively clean to enjoy an authentic meal with friends and family.

We came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon with a group of 9 people so we made a reservation ahead of time and were seated right away. They did seem busy. The food was delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes including the pork dumplings, fried pea sprouts, an eggplant dish, pork hock, a beef dish, a chicken dish, and some shrimp. I don't know the specific names of the dishes because one of the people who took us there ordered everything. Everything was very good and we finished all the dishes. It would be beneficial to speak mandarin at this restaurant. Luckily most of our group did. But even so we had to ask for water 4 times. Overall we enjoyed our lunch.

I wanted to treat my aunt to lunch today. She's a foodie and a picky eater so I knew when she suggested this place for their lunch special, I knew the food was going to be good. Boy was she right!! It's just the 2 of us yet we got 6 dishes so I can try a little bit of everything. Let me just say, everything was delicious. I loved their House Special Braised Pork Belly with 2 marinated eggs on the side, Their Kung Pao chicken was really flavorful. The Mopo Tofu had just the right amount of numbness. The Shanghai Style Pan Fried Pork was pillowy on top and crispy on the bottom with a good amount of meat in the middle. The Eggplant with Ground pork, we told them to make it less salty so it was just right. And lastly the steamed live tilapia was delicious as well. All the dishes were $12.99 so it was about $100 including a 18% tip. The restaurant was typical Chinese place and there were lots of seats available, and it was really crowded for a Thursday lunch, but the service was great and the food delivery was fast as well. Everything was awesome and I can't wait to come back to have their special lunch again or try their dinner menu. It's a little hidden gem in the SGV Valley. You definitely need to put them on your bookmark list.

Walking into a restaurant with beautiful décor often sets high expectations, only to be disappointed by the taste of the food. However, No. 8 on the Bund pleasantly surprised me. Upon entering, I was initially skeptical. The restaurant had a modest crowd, with its long layout featuring a private room at one end. While the Shanghai-themed wallpaper added charm, the empty walls and a TV showing a soccer game hinted at something more--a hidden gem boasting authentic regional cuisine, specifically Shanghainese. Among the standout dishes that garnered unanimous praise from our table were the "Sauteed A Choy with Garlic" and the "Crispy Whole Fried Fish with Sweet and Sour Sauce." The former exemplified flawless execution in a vegetable dish, showcasing the chef's skillful mastery. Conversely, the latter, a visually stunning dish, left us in awe of its presentation. We found ourselves admiring its beauty, almost hesitant to dig in for fear of disrupting its artistry. No. 8 on the Bund truly shines as a hidden gem catering to locals, evidenced by the numerous returning customers. Its appeal lies not only in its reasonable lunch menu prices but also in its dishes that highlight expert cooking techniques. This restaurant is a testament to the notion that culinary excellence thrives in unexpected places.

Friendly and speedy service. The menu items are standard Shanghaiese food similar to other Shanghai restaurants in the area; the price is reasonable. We were in the carb mood and ordered a claypot rice, scallion oil dry noodle. The server was nice enough to suggest us to save the pan fried bun for the next visit, and offered a veggie dish. We also ordered the fried spring roll and sea cucumber. Overall, the dishes were a bit oily and heavy flavored for us. Maybe next visit we will start with the customer favorites'- braised fish and steamed shrimp, then mixed with the clay rice to balanced out.
